hey i just started playing eve and now i see you are allowed to log off to avoid results of pvp??
so i guess that makes eve pvp-lite which is a shame considering the game set up.
i am not critizing the guy for logging cause i am sure many people expoilt such a system.
what i dont understand is how people would prefer to have a game system where a few people losing ship/pods due to crashes/disconnects is deemed more important to prevent then having a completely broken pvp system.
maybe i am way off cause i dont understand things on eve very well, but the arguement is that he logged cause lag would have cost him his pod - i have been podded a few times (once by this ginger magician bloke too) and each time i am desperatly trying to warp my pod from the momementt i see my ship is gone. i never works - even with little lag.

i found this thread for messed up (the fact it said you are allowed to log off to avoid combat) that i shearched to see if it was true.
sadly it is.
also found this by mr tiller

"Non-consentual PVP with chance of losing what you worked for is what sets eve above all the rest and makes traveling around actually fun and challenging. Without it I'd prefer to go play WOW tbh.
Discuss.
/signed one VERY unhappy tiller."

I never played WOW but i am sure that like almost every other PVP game ever made it is against the rules to log from combat.
why does let players act like complete wimps? it lets scams, ganks, camps, but then ruins everything by letting people avoid the worst fate of all?
i guess most of you are completely jaded by log off arguements but when you have some of the player base saying your nuts NOT to log off from combat (which you will lose) well then, they might as well give you your ship, implants and modules back after you die.

well i used that quote to show that any player will log under the current conditions. who makes a pvp game and then says you can log to avoid combat? if i ever play eve long enough to have 3 months of my time plugged into my head i would maybe log off too.
the temptation needs to be removed, right?
cause lets be honest in single player games we all save/reload that is what makes online games so sweet - you cant cheat yourself like you do in single player.

lag death, crashing death and many more unfair things are all part of online play. allowing people to log off to avoid results of pvp should not be.
i am not having a go at the loggers. cause it is unfair when CCP let people do it, but i am saying i will never understand how a pvp game can comprimises itself like this.
i guess no one is gonna give you a pat on the back for taking it like a man and watching your pod explode.
thought in my searchs on logging off i did see responses from DEVS saying they think it is a problem and they want to fix it. now we just have to wait for them to accept that people losing assets to lag is a worth while evil for having full pvp in eve.
